Kalapula Agribusiness Ventures (KAbV) is proud to share the successful completion of a three-week virtual internship program in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University and Practera.
The program officially commenced on November 10th, welcoming seven final-year Bachelor’s students specialising in Animal Behaviour, Conservation, and Zoology. From the outset, the internship was designed as a collaborative, real-world learning experience that connected academic knowledge with practical agribusiness innovation.
Week 1: Onboarding and Exploration
The internship began with an onboarding session where KAbV introduced its vision and operations. Students were given an in-depth overview of KAbV’s integrated circular farming model, which connects crop production, piggery, and aquaculture into a zero-waste, resource-efficient system.
Students showed strong enthusiasm and curiosity, particularly around:
- Circular economy principles in agriculture
- Zero-waste farming systems
- Resource efficiency and sustainability
As their first assignment, students reviewed KAbV’s business plan and pitch deck, providing structured feedback and suggestions for improvement—reinforcing the importance of strong foundations for sustainable business growth.
Collaborative Learning and Strong Engagement
Throughout the three weeks, communication between the students and KAbV was excellent. The internship was marked by open dialogue, constructive feedback, and a shared commitment to learning. The students demonstrated professionalism, analytical thinking, and genuine engagement with the project.
Their final report reflected the depth of their research, teamwork, and dedication, and KAbV was highly pleased with both the process and the outcomes.
Industry Project Client Badge Awarded

Upon completion of the internship, Kalapula Agribusiness Ventures was honoured to receive the Practera Industry Project Client Badge. This recognition acknowledges:
- Meaningful industry engagement
- Active mentorship and guidance
- Contribution to student professional development
As a result, KAbV has now been added to Practera’s global pool of industry partners, enabling students from universities across Practera’s network to undertake virtual internships with the company in the future.
Looking Ahead
KAbV is grateful to Manchester Metropolitan University, Practera, and the participating students for making this internship a valuable and inspiring experience. We are proud to support emerging professionals and remain committed to knowledge-sharing, sustainability, and innovation in agribusiness.
